At their simplest, adhesives are materials that bond two surfaces together. But in a manufacturing plant, the real question is: what does that bond cost? What Should You Choose?
No universal answer, and don't trust anyone who gives you one. For surface protection, labels, or temporary mounting, a standard PSA is fine. There's no reason to buy structural strength you don't need. But for automotive, electronics, or any application exposed to vibration and temperature changes, engineered structural adhesives are usually worth the price premium.
My rule of thumb: if a failure means rework, safety risk, or a warranty cost, use a material you can trust. Run a TCO comparison that includes material cost, process cost, and compliance/risk cost. Read the SDS for every candidate. Ask for case studies. If a supplier can't answer your questions clearly, that's an answer itself.
I'm not saying Huntsman is the only solid choice.
